Dave & JerryTwo singer songwriters Two great voices Two excellent musicians Separated by one common
language!! Jerry Arhelger is
a Texan based in Nashville, Tennessee Dave Clemo is a
Cornishman who now lives in Kettering, Northants, UK Together they make great
music! Dave is a
multi-instrumentalist, singer, composer, arranger and record producer. He began
his career in the late 60s and has played almost every kind of popular music
(and some which can best be described as unpopular!) over the years. He was at
different times a member of a traditional folk group, a heavy rock band, country
& western group, a pop/top40 covers band and a CCM/gospel group. Dave first heard about
Jerry through a friend in the mid 90s who said that they’d be great working
together. Amazingly, two years later they were singing together on stage and
writing songs together. Sadly, they were not able to continue working together
for a number of reasons including Jerry’s illness (see below) but they renewed
their friendship and working relationship in November 2007, when Jerry was
Dave’s special guest at the concert to launch Dave’s new CD “Covered”.
During the short time that they were together, Jerry recorded some tracks in
Dave & Chris’ studio and plans were made for Dave and Jerry to tour the UK
in March 2008. This tour was very well received and confirmed that Dave &
Jerry have a unique act, warm, good humoured, with each artist complementing the
other’s talents. Plans are now underway for further tours in 2009 and beyond. Jerry began his
music career at the age of 12. He began recording at the age of 17 and was
signed to Columbia records when he was 19. His first visit to the UK was in 1979
and since then he has made over seventy trips over here. He’s played the
Wembley and Peterborough Country Music festivals, the Cork 850 celebration (with
Johnny Cash) and was part of the “Fruit of the Loom/Country Comfort” tour of
the US with Travis Tritt, Hank Williams Jnr, Charley Daniels and JoDee Messina
which averaged over 20,000 people per show. To say he’s been there and done
that is an understatement! Jerry describes himself as a “walking miracle” following a complete recovery from cancer and removal of his thyroid a few years ago. He was bedridden for many months and his doctors feared that he’d never speak again, let alone sing. His story is one of great faith and fortitude in the face of illness and adversity that would have defeated a lesser man. Dave is proud to have Jerry as a friend. Check out Dave’s blog for more information on the March 2008 tour.
