About Me

I'm a singer songwriter based in Kettering, Northamptonshire. I'm married with two grown up children. I have a day job in a solicitors office. I was given a guitar for Christmas way back in the 60's during the beat boom. I first learned the Shadows walk, then Pete Townsend's windmill right arm. I was about to learn to play using my teeth a la Jimi Hendrix when I decided that perhaps I ought to learn how to hold down a chord!

Someone showed me the chords to "House of the Rising Sun" and the rest is history. I've owned all sorts of guitars down the years including a couple of Gibson Les Pauls but these days I play mostly electro-acoustic models including a couple of Washburn Montereys, and a Faith Jupiter. I run a recording studio with my son Chris and we play occasional gigs together. I also play mandolin and bass guitar and recently played bass for Ricky Vallance on his last UK Tour. I also accompany Jerry Arhelger on guitar and mandolin when he tours the UK. I’ve used backing tracks in the past but these days prefer to accompany myself on guitar. You can be sure that what you see is what you hear.Check me out on Youtube.

As Billy Connolly said "I am too old too die young". I take my music seriously and I will keep on writing songs for as long as I keep feeling inspired. I’m constantly adding to my repertoire and include cover versions of classic songs in my performances.

I've recorded more than 60 of my own songs to date as well as a number of my own arrangements of classic songs. From 1994- 2005 I recorded a number of gospel country/CCM albums that received airplay around the world but I'm now working in the mainstream.

I also have a huge repertoire of songs covering pop, country, folk, Irish and sing-along. I have recently been playing sit-down venues from bars to small theatres. I’m not a tribute act although I do sing songs by Johnny Cash, James Taylor etc. It’s taken me this long to sound like myself. Why should I want to sound like anyone else?

Over the years my wife Sue and I played concerts and led worship on bandstands, in shopping precincts, conference and arts centres and football grounds as well as in churches large and small, both in city centres and rural villages! We have also performed at festivals including Cross Rhythms, Hearts on Fire, Kingston '99, and the Whitby Gospel Music Convention.

These days I perform in three distinct and different genres. I can play churches, singing my own songs plus well-known hymns and sacred songs. I’ve worked with George Hamilton IV, Paul Wheater (Yorkshire’s Jim Reeves), Jerry Arhelger (US), Helen Shapiro and Cannon & Ball among others.

I also play the singer/songwriter circuit. My songs are country/folk rock and deal with life, work, love and the human condition.

I also play music venues, clubs, parties, weddings etc where my extensive repertoire of pop, country, folk and sing-along songs comes into its own.

I’ve recorded many CDs over the last few years and now have albums that cover each style of music that I play.
