Is it Folk? Country? Acoustic Rock? Pop even?
We don't know, because it's all of that and then some. Audiences everywhere are loving the sound of The Dave Clemo Band. It's live, it's acoustic, unplugged and undubbed. We play covers, but not as you've heard them. We can perform a unique mix of songs from the 30's through to the present day, including a host of top quality original compositions! Great musicianship and clever arrangements ensure that every song in our repertoire is memorable whether it's pop, country, folk, blues or rock.
Biography!
Dave Clemo and his band have been playing music for more years than any of them care to admit to!
Dave is a singer/songwriter and musician and has been performing for more than 40 years. During that time he has played in many bands over a staggering variety of music styles and this is reflected in our repertoire. The Dave Clemo Band feature a number of his songs in their set. Even though we play our own versions of records by other artists Dave does not consider himself a tribute act. It's taken me 40 years to sound like myself, so I'm not going to try and sound like anyone else now!
In his long career Dave has played pubs and clubs (including the world famous Marquee Club in London's Wardour Street), theatres up and down the country from Aberdeen to Bournemouth and festivals the length and breadth of the UK. As well as playing guitar and mandolin with the Dave Clemo Band, Dave has also played bass for Australian singer/songwriter Nicki Gillis on her recent UK tours including a 30 date theatre production.
Chris is Dave's son although, these days, Dave is usually and affectionately referred to as Clemo's Dad ! He is a drummer, percussionist, tour manager and record producer with a vast amount of experience within the music industry. He collects vintage Hayman drum kits and uses them to great effect when playing with his other band Scoria Sky. He is rapidly becoming one of the country's top cahon players.
Vince hails from Scotland which hopefully answers your kilt questions. He has been playing guitar and singing in folk clubs for many years. He brings a wealth of experience from the world of folk and traditional music not to mention playing a mean bodhran! His guitar and cittern playing brings an extra dimension to the band's sound.
Lastly, but not least, Dave W is our double bass player. He has been playing bass guitar since a teenager (when Dave Clemo first met him) and brings a huge amount of experience and talent to the band. A member of a top functions band since 1984, he joined The Dave Clemo Band in order to broaden his experience and to learn more about the double bass, an instrument he loves to play. He currently uses a double bass that used to belong to his grandfather. It's almost 100 years old!
In our short existence we have proven to be a popular act with audiences everywhere. Why not check us out for yourself?
